Henry VanDyke

I told my co-workers about Henry today and he was promptly made person of the day.

We bought Henry his first clothes this week. A t-shirt and hoodie with numbers made the cut to enter Henry’s fledgeling wardrobe. Erin’s mom contributed a pair of shoes and a pack of bibs later in the week. So far it appears he’ll be foregoing pants though.

Henry has broken out of the fruit comparisons and is now moving on to vegetables.

This week Henry is the size of a sweet potato.

Yesterday Erin had her 18-week ultrasound and there was definitive evidence that we are going to have a little boy in a few months. We’re also excited to announce that our baby’s name will be Henry Miles VanDyke. We picked the name because we liked it but there are a few family tie-ins here and there.

At the doctor’s office they asked us if we wanted a DVD of the ultrasound. Wary of child exploitation scams, we asked how much it would cost. They said it was free (which I think means included in their exorbitant fees) so we have a video of baby Henry to share. Fair warning: This is the grandparent edition which lasts about 10 minutes but you get the idea in the first two or three minutes. Enjoy.

Erin’s tummy is getting a little more crowded with our growing baby.  According to the experts the baby is the size of a sweet potato now. Tomorrow we’re headed to the doctor to find out if we’re having a little boy or a little girl.

Last night our weekly Target run included a trip to the stroller isle. After extensive research, including Erin resting her head on a car seat to see how comfortable it was, we have selected the Baby Trends Expedition with the Phatom color scheme as our stroller of choice.

Before we started looking at baby stuff, I never realized that they have three wheeled strollers. They seem to be a hybrid between jogging strollers and the traditional baby monster truck strollers. I think that makes them eco-friendly too!
