Henry has learned to roll over. We always knew laying on his stomach wasn’t his favorite way to spend time. So we weren’t surprised that it didn’t take long for him to correct the situation.
A friend of ours referred Erin to a first time mom’s class at a local church. Since Erin was looking for opportunities to get out of the house, she decided to check it out. So now Henry and Erin head out every Thursday to hang out with other new moms and their babies.

Henry took his first outing on Friday where he ventured into the public eye. His entrance to society occurred at a local Starbucks. We found a secluded corner to keep away prying eyes and fingers. Henry, however, was fairly blaze about the whole affair deciding the ordeal wasn’t worth his attention. But, not wanting to risk the wrath of an angry baby or the flu, we left after about 30 minutes.
My brother, Uncle Chuck, and his wife, AJ, came to visit Henry this past week. Since they live in Nashville, they hadn’t seen Henry yet. Good news, they think he’s cute.
AJ cooked her famous apple dumplings for us one night which more than lived up to their reputation. They were able to participate in a number of firsts during their trip including:
First outing
First month birthday
First birthday hat
First time sitting up on the couch without assistance
Longest single sleeping period – Five and half hours
On Wednesday Henry turned one month old. The occasion was marked with a birthday text from Oppa, a birthday hat courtesy of Uncle Chuck and apple dumplings from AJ.
No, of course I didn't want a hat but what choice do I have.
At one month Henry has achieved the following milestones:
Weight: 9 lbs. 14 oz.
Length: 22 inches
Smiling
Following people or objects close up with his eyes
Cooing
Holds head up for brief periods
You can see in the picture below how much he’s grown in the last month.
These days our typical evening involves feeding, bathing and playing with Henry.
His bath times are getting better since we started putting his baby tub in the real tub and running the water while he’s in there. Most nights after his bath we’ll put on his PJs. We’re well stocked with footie pajamas so his feet stay warm throughout the evening. He’s also becoming slightly more interactive. He’ll watch whoever is in front of him and make noises occasionally. Usually, he’ll call it a night around 9 p.m. and fall asleep and we promptly follow.
YaiYai and Oppa, Henry’s grandparents, came to visit from Tennessee this week. We’re always glad to have them come and they were especially helpful this time. YaiYai woke up with Henry during the night which let Erin and I get a little extra sleep. Oppa ensured the trip was thoroughly documented by taking lots of pictures.
