The First Christmas Gift

Posted on Sunday, January 10th, 2010 at 6:23 am

Shortly after lunch on Christmas Eve, YaiYai announced that Henry needed to open one of his Christmas presents. Henry was quick to agree, so his first Christmas present was actually a Christmas Eve present.

Henry Rolls Over

Posted on Friday, October 30th, 2009 at 8:00 am

Henry has learned to roll over. We always knew laying on his stomach wasn’t his favorite way to spend time. So we weren’t surprised that it didn’t take long for him to correct the situation.

Henry’s First Outing

Posted on Wednesday, October 28th, 2009 at 8:00 am

Henry took his first outing on Friday where he ventured into the public eye. His entrance to society occurred at a local Starbucks. We found a secluded corner to keep away prying eyes and fingers. Henry, however, was fairly blaze about the whole affair deciding the ordeal wasn’t worth his attention. But, not wanting to risk the wrath of an angry baby or the flu, we left after about 30 minutes.

Yes, he slept the entire time.

Uncle Chuck and AJ Visit

Posted on Tuesday, October 27th, 2009 at 8:00 am

My brother, Uncle Chuck, and his wife, AJ, came to visit Henry this past week. Since they live in Nashville, they hadn’t seen Henry yet. Good news, they think he’s cute.

AJ cooked her famous apple dumplings for us one night which more than lived up to their reputation. They were able to participate in a number of firsts during their trip including:

  • First outing
  • First month birthday
  • First birthday hat
  • First time sitting up on the couch without assistance
  • Longest single sleeping period – Five and half hours
  • First people under 25 to hold Henry

Henry’s First Bath

We gave Henry his first bath last week. He cried the entire time. But the good news is that we recorded it to share with you.

Henry’s First Walk

Posted on Sunday, September 27th, 2009 at 6:10 pm

We took Henry on his first walk on Saturday morning. This was a trial run of Henry by himself – no Tigerman.

I learned that Erin is a dedicated sun blocker. At every turn she re-adjusted the shades on his stroller so that not so much of a fingernail ever spent time in the direct light.

I also learned that the international signal of baby distress is fingers spread in front of their body. Henry demonstrated this briefly every time we went over a bump. Don’t worry though, we had him strapped in securely and no baby was harmed durning the making of this video.

First Doctors Appointment

Posted on Saturday, September 26th, 2009 at 9:29 pm

Henry went to his first doctor’s appointment on Friday. He’s doing great.

When he left the hospital he weighed 6 lbs. 13 oz. He was born at 7 lbs. 3 oz. and lost about 5% of his weight at the hospital. This is normal because babies who get milk from their moms don’t get a whole lot of food the first couple of days. Once the milk starts flowing though, they quickly gain the weight back.

At the doctor’s office he weighed 7lbs 0.5 oz. which means Henry is eating great. Dr. Mathieu called him a “chow hound”!

He also said his color looks good so we shouldn’t have to worry about jaundice.

Henry’s next trip is at the 2-week mark which will be October 5.

When we asked if it was okay to walk Henry with our dog that we walk twice a day the doctor kinda laughed.

First Date

Posted on Friday, September 25th, 2009 at 12:12 pm

Erin and I escaped the house on Thursday for about 45 minutes to purchase a few items at Target. Erin’s mom has been hanging out at the house during the day to help us with Henry. We left Henry sleeping with her and headed out. When we returned, Granny said that Henry had only stretched once and otherwise laid still. Success.

I told Erin that now that we have a kid that 45 minutes out of the house with just the two of us counts as a date.

Don't worry Henry is in good hands at the house with his Granny.
