Bibs by Elizabeth

Posted on Wednesday, May 19th, 2010 at 8:00 am

A friend of ours from college, Elizabeth, sent us a bib that she made as a gift. It was immediately named our favorite bib. It is longer than most bibs which covers his whole upper body. The hole for his neck is the perfect size. It’s not big enough for food to fall through but not too tight either. Plus, it has a soft towel back and a great print on the front.

Erin emailed and asked if we could pay Elizabeth to make us a few more bibs. She agreed and now four bibs by Elizabeth share the title of favorite bib. We then convinced Elizabeth that she should set up a store on Esty to sell the bibs.

So, if you would like a bib by Elizabeth, just go to pinknu4se.etsy.com and buy a few. Tell her Henry sent you!

We didn't specifically ask for a bib to match the high chair, but Elizabeth is good like that.

Some friends gave us a gift card to buy clothes for Henry. When I saw this shirt, I knew it was meant for Henry.

Boppy Rocker

Posted on Saturday, September 5th, 2009 at 8:00 am

A few weeks ago we recieved an unexpected package on our front door. After opening it we found out that it was the Boppy Rocker from our registry. Our good friends, the Conlons, ordered it for Henry.

It’s great and the only problem, as you’ll see, was trying to put it together.

Unexpected Gifts

Erin’s friends from HEB Methodist hospital asked her join them for dinner last Friday night and brought gifts for Henry.

Erin worked at HEB full-time for three years. It was her first speech pathology job. About a year ago she switched to working PRN (as needed) for several hospitals, including HEB. While the drive was a little too long for working everyday, Erin enjoys working there about once every other week because it gives her a chance to catch up with all of her friends that still work there.

The Baby Shower

Posted on Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 at 8:00 am

Saturday was Henry’s first baby shower. Several of the girls from our church threw the party for Erin. We were amazed at both the turnout and the amount of stuff they gave us. It’s really nice that Erin has such great friends and that they don’t hold being married to me against her.

As with any proper social gathering, the refreshments were provided including petit fours that were apparently so delicious that no extras were available to bring home to me. The decorations were low key but very well done, include wooden blocks that spelled out Henry Miles VanDyke. Also, apparently diaper cakes are big these days in the baby world and we received one that was decorated with Burt’s Bees lotions and a teddy bear on top.

After socializing, the main event included the opening of a crazy amount of presents. Henry now has more clothes than I do which Erin says is good because he’ll need lots of wardrobe changes. Thanks to the generosity of our friends we are now able to bathe, stroll, diaper, entertain, clothe, lotion, pacify, provide bedding, scrapbook,  and educate Henry.

Enjoy some pictures of the event courtesy of guest photographers: Angela Everhart, Toni Moden and Judith Hinderer.

Henry gets a mobile

Henry got a mobile but sadly it wasn’t an iPhone. Our good friends Cathalina and Jordan Dean gave it to Henry. Please enjoy this photo while I finish up the in-depth coverage of First Shower ’09.

A Blanket from Maw

Posted on Sunday, August 2nd, 2009 at 8:00 am

A week or so ago a package arrived on our door step that I wasn’t expecting. We quickly opened it and were excited to find a blanket and pillow from Maw and Paw for Henry.

Don't worry once he gets here we'll let both Henry and the bears use the pillow.
